It's not my fandom...

I haven't posted in almost a week, and I feel bad about that. I've been too busy to scrapbook, and i spent so much time cleaning up last weekend for our twilight party that I didn't have the heart to pull everything out again to scrap on Sunday.

I know you're all stuck and pointing at that one line up there with the word "Twilight" in it. I might as well explain myself.

I read the first book for a book club meeting two summers ago. Not a big deal, I'd picked up the book before (long before it was this huge thing) and put it back down, thinking "this has potential because it's about vampires, but it also looks sorta lame."

I read the first book with ease, thinking Edward was the shit (excuse my language), despite his sparkling nonsense and the total bastardization of one of the coolest supernatural creatures there is. I'm an Anne Rice fan, so in some ways a vampire purest. The second book was miles better, and if anyone's ever had their heart broken she hits it hard, nail on the head sort of thing. I totally sort of jumped on the "Team Jacob" band wagon here. I mean who wouldn't love a guy who cares enough about someone to be there for her even when she doesn't deserve it? I certainly can't think of anyone.

Book three broke my heart and really sealed the deal between me and the Jacob character. He lays a line on Bella about them being soulmates and she knows he's right but still picks the guy who reminds her of cold marble anyway. Speaking from experience? Cold marble is only a relaxing feeling when you're having a migraine or puking your guts out after binge drinking.

Book four...well let's pretend Breaking Dawn didn't happen, how about it? By the end of the book I wanted every character to die, and was greatly displeased when that was not the case.

Still my girlfriends and I have evolved with this stupid fandom. It's everywhere. The huge displays at Borders, the internet is crawling with it. Tattoos, cakes, everything. Bonnie's the true fan. She enjoys it, more than she'd admit it, and she goes to the events with hardcore fans (although I did attend the Twilight panel at DragonCon, but I was drug there by someone else). Gina's like me, we have this love hate relationship with the books, because they were fun to read, but by no means some sort of great work of literature. Sadly book-wise Gina's still Team Eddy, which upsets me.

Jacki's my favorite though. Girlfriend hasn't even read the books. She's seen the movies with us, gotten the entire story from us via telling and now she's just as involved as we are. We sent out goofy photos and demotivational posters when we find them. We laugh at Robert Pattinson's (RPatz) in ability to wash his hair. We mock Kristen Stweart (well...I try not to because I love that girl even if she is boring as all get out in the movie), we drool over Taylor Lautner.

We are fans. As much as we hate the fans, we know we're fans. We're at the movie opening weekend in "Team Jailbait" tshirts, that I designed. We had our DVD release party Saturday night, which was really just an excuse to drink and mock the whole thing. And yet...we perpetuate the whole thing don't we?

You know what though? I know that when Eclipse is released in June, I'm promised a girls night and when the DVD comes out around Christmas (which I'm sure it will), Champ will leave the house for a night and I can get snockered with my girlfriends giggling at RPatz's painted on abs and Taylor's oh so real ones. So is it truly that bad? Probably not.

WOW

So I'm not totally arrogant about scrapping, but sometimes...well a girl just has to assume she's pretty decent. Looking at the gallery for this month's Commit2Paper inspiration squad? Sheesh I think my LO's pale in comparison.

I'm forever amazed at what happens when you give five people the same package of supplies and tell them to go for it. You wind up with some really really amazing stuff.

Check it out for sure.

Don't Forget!

There's a big sale going on at Commit2Paper!!

If I were a kind of weather, I’d be a hot summer day.
If I were a musical instrument, I’d be a bass guitar.
If I were a color, I’d be pale pink.
If I were an emotion, I’d be excited.
If I were a fruit, I’d be a peach.
If I were a sound, I’d be laughter.
If I were an element, I’d be fire.
If I were a car, I’d be a convertible with the top down.

More LOs

I did some other layouts at the scrapbook retreat last month and just now got around to upload photos. Thought I'd share them.

Independent Film

The photos of this one are from the Independent Film panel at Dragon Con in Atlanta this year. It was one of my favorite panels, more than just having one of my favorite actors on it, while he shared his trailer for his movie.

More March C2P LO's

A few more LO's for your enjoyment.

March C2P: Laugh

March C2P: What a Crush

Dirty Scraps - Broken

Did this layout for the Broken Relationship challenge on Dirty Scraps.

Of course, I think broken relationship and my mind immediately jumps to first loves lost. I'm sure it's the case for most everyone else as well. I really really love how this one came out.

March C2P: Layouts

The first batch of layouts from the March Commit2Paper kit.

I really have enjoyed working with this kit, it melds so well with photos I have of parties, of friends in high school playing in their high school bands.

Year of an Art Journal

I've been working on this art journal, it's sort of a new thing for me. I'm trying to try new styles and such and this seemed like a good way to go about it.

Here's what I've done so far.

Art Journal - What
This prompt was "What" as in what's holding you back in your art work. I wrote out a bunch of things and then went over it with paint.

Art Journal - Hope

For the "Hope" prompt, I played around with masking and glimmer misting. Besides making sort of a mess, I still like the way it came out.

Art Journal - Unknown

For "Unknown" I was drawing a blank, but I started playing with water colors and some chipboard wings I liked. The technique to use was stitching which I sort of cheated with my stitching on the wings, but I still really like the way the page came together. One of those things you work on and eventually it becomes something beyond yourself.

Here's a little more detail:

Wedding Invite Shadw Box

Made this up for my friend Gina who wanted something to do with her wedding invites, but didn't have any idea (or want to pay more than the $19.99 for the frame).

Mostly it's just KI Lace paper and some bling, but I think it came out really great.

Tattoo Ideas

For those who don't know I've already got three tattoos, and I'm working on planning four, five, and six. I've been toying with the idea of adding to my original tattoo which looks like this:

tat

(I apologize for all that skin there. Taking a photo of your lower back is not easy.)

I want to add this above it:

Tattoo plan

Opinions?

For those curious I can only find photos of the most recent tat (the other one is on facebook? maybe? I'm not sure).

New INK

February C2P Layouts!

Late in posting these, but I was a busy bee with the Feb Commit 2 Paper kit. It was perfectly colored for a pink and navy wedding ;)

Feb C2P: The girls

Feb C2P: Us

Feb C2P: Katy and Chris

Feb C2P: Daddy's Little Girl

Feb C2P: The Halls

Feb C2P: Flowers 1

C2P: FLowers 2

Feb C2P: K&C

A few look repetitive, but I'm working on three different wedding albums (ours, the Flemings and the Halls). I've already cracked into March for my inspiration squad commitments, and so far it's so much fun. It lends really well to scrapping photos of high school friends in high school bands.

RP Trailer

So I've started online RPing (role playing), which is mostly and attempt to hone my writing skills, but i rather enjoy it. It's fun to develop characters and play with them back and forth.

One of the games I play I have a banner for in the right toolbar. Epitaph. The other game I play is called Eidolon City which is this really neat concept that winds up taking place in sort of a 1930's/40's gangster mob movie. Really cool.

My friend Nat who's got mad skills this weekend worked on a trailer for the game to post around and such. It's pretty kick ass and I just had to share it with the three people who still read.

enjoy!

Domestic Goddess? Try Domestic Disaster

[insert babble about the blog being neglected here]

So my dear friend Meaghan continues to post about her domestic adventures and IM me about such as well. I shouldn't say I'm surprised. The girl has the most organized underwear drawer I've ever seen in my life our first year in college. (Mine meanwhile was socks and underwear shoved into a drawer that was lucky if it was closed most of the time.

But I can't help but laugh at our conversations via gtalk (example made up convo):

Meag: I just vacuumed the entire house, did laundry and made a healthy dinner.
kT: um. champ made dinner and you just reminded me i have a load of laundry in the dryer that's been there for two days. brb while i get that.

It just amuses me how not cut out for domesticity I am. Not that I can't cook. When I do bother, it's good. I make homemade pasta primavera, and spaghetti sauce from scratch. Still most of our meals are on the couch, me on the computer, chris watching tv.

Our place? It's cleaned on occasions, when expecting visitors and the like. Mostly it's an ordered sense of chaos. Although when the laundry has been done and put away (which is not always happening) our bedroom is rather clean.

Perfect example though? Our kitchen table has the desk chair from the guest room pulled up to it and is cover in in work projects that I've been doing for scrapbooking. To tell you that I might clean it up this weekend? That's a total stretch. Maybe. If I spend most of Saturday organizing everything else so I have somewhere to put it.

Which starts with getting the folding table that's been chilling int he back of my car out out of my car.

Meag's is worried about having kids and not being able to do huge cook offs on sundays to be ready for the week? I'm worried about losing them. I think that's just a sure sign that either a) i'm not cut out for it or b) I am about as far from ready as one can get.
