Feb Photo a Day - Day 5 and 6

I didn't forget to take the photo yesterday! I just forgot to post it. So here are both Day 5 and 6.

Day 5 - 10AM

10am means this guy is on the bed, demanding that people are up and moving towards his food bowl to feed him. He's the best snuggler, but at the same time the most demanding animal that ever existed. And no, you are not seeing things. That cat is the size of your small dog.

Day 6 - Dinner

I waited all day for this one. I was prepared. Dinner was yummy left over spaghetti sauce that I make from scratch, bow tie pasta (which is cute to photograph) all of that. What did I do? I completely forgot until after dinner and after dessert. So here you are, what's left of my ice cream bowl.

30/30/30 Outfit 5

30/30/30 Outfit 5-1

Day 5 which means a trip to the mall (and photos done in a mirror at Macy's) to get the laptop fixed. It's cooler again, high 50s, which means layers. I like the way this looks, something more structured than two t-shirts, but at the same time comfortable.

30/30/30 Outfit 5-2

flowery waffle + green Converse button down + dark denim
paired with dark gray ballet flats

What I also love about this outfit? It wasn't expensive. So many style bloggers (not that I claim to be one of those) wear designer clothes or expensive vintage items. I don't have that luxury. I'm not built to wear those sort of clothes, nor am is that worked into my budget. This outfit? Total probably cost $100. That's including the shoes. The shirts are from Target, the jeans American Eagle and the shoes from DSW. You can look good and still wear things off the rack.

Music For Monday - Young Statues

I've talked about this one before, and I am more than excited for their show when they come through Atlanta in March. I'm stoked, more than stoked. I've seen these guys before, when they opened for The Tower and The Fool and was very pleased, more than pleased. (You can see how excited I am from the constant need to repeat myself for no good reason.)

Fall in love with Young Statues, fall fast in love with them. They have the perfect music for a rainy day, a long sunny drive (a long drive in general) and a lazy afternoon. Without much effort they've made their way up to my "go-to" list when I'm digging around the car for a CD that just gets me through the drive, or on the iPod when I need to be soothed.

30/30/30 Outfit 4

30/30/30 Outfit 4-2

It was baby shower day and Super Bowl sunday! I wanted to glam it up a little because for some reason people get really dressed up for baby showers. I don't have a kid so I don't understand this, but if I was pregnant and carrying around extra weight I'd be very much in favor of a comfortable and casual party. No such luck though. So out I busted the floral dress.

It was another beautiful, not winter day, which meant, kid you not, I was comfortable in the sleeveless dress. Nuts right?

30/30/30 Outfit 4-3

It was the first 'cheat' too. This morning when I got dressed it was still cool enough for a jacket and since I was trying to be dressed up? I went with the little jacket over it rather than one of my cardigans. The jacket gave it more structure, which it needed to dress it up some.

Day 4 - stranger

I felt like a massive creep doing this but I finally got the guy with the Tech shirt on.

30/30/30 - Outfit 3

30/30/30 Outfit 3-3

So this...is my style to the to the max I think. Jeans, tshirt (this one is from Black Carbon Custom, which while not a band t-shirt is a shirt from a clothing label started by a guy in a band), plaid shirt and my hair in my face. I was having a rough hair day, wanting to wear it up and not finding the right way for it go.

Loved this from today. So perfect.

30/30/30 Outfit 2-1

It's a simple, 'chores around the house' kind of day which means less of a fancy outfit. Planning on going out later, but this is nice enough for where we're headed. It's also another pretend winter day which is why I've got the flip flops on. That and I like when my tattoo is visible.

Q&A With Robert Schwartzman

A little bit of pre-explanation on this one. I've been a fan of Robert Schwartzman since before the first Rooney album came out. I've got to admit, very much enjoyed "The Princess Diaries" which he was in (yep, that one) and while watching MTV2 at some point, they were doing a 'bands to watch' specials. They brought up Rooney, pointed out who the lead singer was and then told me I had to wait a year for the album. I kept the name in mind, waited around and finally got my hands on their first album.

I've seen Robert perform with Rooney twice and now he's just finished up a solo album, "Double Capricorn" which is available on his website. Make sure you check it out!

Where do you get your inspiration from? Do you have any specific sources for when you're feeling dried out? What are they?

Robert: I get my inspiration from listening to music and taking in new ideas, reading plays, books, new content.  Kind of like Johnny 5 from the movie Short Circuit, "need more input."  But when I start writing I usually sit at the piano or pick up a guitar and just follow music, whatever starts to happen.  Like jumping in a raft and heading down a wild river.  I find writing to be very healing and comforting, so it helps me with problems in my life or when I feel out of my body.

What's your favorite thing about "Double Capricorn"? What are you hoping listeners take away from the album?

Robert: My favorite thing is about Double Capricorn is this whole process, making a solo album, producing it, playing all the parts, releasing the album independently, looking for ways to help promote the music, making the music videos, etc.  I'm really enjoying everything that comes along with making albums and releasing them.

Can you tell us more about the Tibetan Healing Fund and how you got involved with it?

Robert: My friend who's a Tibetan Monk and doctor of Tibetan medicine started a charity called the Tibetan Healing Fund...www.tibetanhealingfund.org.  He lived with my family for almost 4 years while he received his masters in public health from UCLA.  He returned to Tibet the summer of 2010.  I went to visit him last May and again in September.  After seeing the work he's doing and what he's put together, and the amount of people he's helping, I felt I had to get involved.  I was already in the process of making Double Capricorn.  I thought it would be great to donate all the profits from the release to the charity, music for a greater good.  So far, fans are really taking to this concept and the support has been incredible.

Anything new on the horizon you can tell us about?

Robert: I have some new music videos in the works for the singles off the album...coming soon!  I leave in mid March for a tour of the west coast, kicking it off in San Francisco on March 15th.  I recently produced an album for my friend's band called Lots Of Love.  I'm very happy with the way it's turned out.  I'm releasing it on my label, California Dreamin' Records, in the next few months.  Keep an eye out.  More music to come!

You can pick up the album, as well as find out more about the tour at robertschwartzman.com !

Feb Photo a Day Challenge - Day 2

Day 2 - Words

I debated on this prompt...all day? it's been a blogging day for me (or that was the intent of the day). But I was kind of annoyed at the idea of posting a picture of my computer screen again. Is my life that dull?

Then dinner came from Chipotle and I found it. How fitting right? Plus I love the design of these bags. It's quite fun and words for sure.
