It seemed odd at first but ended up being this neat interactive thing that eventually leads to a video. It’s pretty darn cool, but I’m mostly intrigued by the song that’s playing in the background. Whatever it is, it’s great. If you happen to know, post it as a comment below.

Thank God it's finally Friday right? Of course it would be a Friday the 13th, but that doesn't have to mean a bad thing right? We've had some strange weather here in Atlanta (that's what we get for complaining about how hot it was) and I think everyone spent the week recovering from the holiday weekend. The new weekend is on the horizon though and just to get you through those last few hours, here's some treats.
Travis Alexander of Ghost Thrower tossed this gem up on his tumblr earlier this week and honestly this guy + a guitar might be all I need. (Okay not all, but I love it). I feel horrible sometimes because I do love when he's screaming in a mic and the whole place is burning with energy, but the fact that just him and the acoustic covering "Small Skeletal" by Crime In Stereo is this good? I can't help it. The more acoustic the better.
Cara Salimando put out her June EP this week as well and you can grab it for free here on her facebook page. These two tracks are peppier than I expected, but my first influence to Cara was her and a piano. I'm always expecting just that and a full band is a pleasant surprise. What is expected though, is that both tracks will be fantastic, which they are. I really love "Never Come Home" and have since I saw it love. This girl is beyond talented and if you aren't listening to her yet you're missing out.
Last, and it feels odd to add it to the same post, but it can't go ignored, the new and long awaited single from Boys Like Girls is out and comes with a pretty fancy looking lyric video.
We've heard teasers of this song since last summer when Martin showed up at a festival as just "Martin Johnson" (and we were sure the band was doomed) and now it's finally a studio thing, which I'm not sure I love as much as I did when it was just the boy and the guitar. I guess I'm spoiled from too many acoustic versions that all the extras seem like too much. I love the way his voice has grown up, and I feel like it doesn't need all that.
That said though, the song is pretty damn beautiful. So here's hoping the new leaf they've turned over won't disappoint. Seems like there's potential for it, but I'm still hedging my bets. Their EP is due out next week with four songs from the upcoming album on it, which is due out in the fall.
Stay safe, watch out for black cats and don't break any mirrors and we should get through this one. Well unless you've got a friend with a mask. Then you might need to be worried.

First up, A Loss For Words just released a new music video which is great. I am so excited about seeing them at Warped Tour. Can't even joke. A Boston band here in Atlanta!
Check it out and see why you should be excited too! They just released a few acoustic tracks which I still need to get my hands on but it's too good to ignore.
That's not enough? Check out the Young Statues Daytrotter session they recorded. Nothing these guys touch is bad and there's enough music to make that 4PM hour move a lot faster.

I was trolling about on my scrapbooking blogs, and found this kit (sadly it's sold out!) It's done by a Noel Mignon, and I believe I've found another kit I want to add to my list of wants and desires. Look at all the fun little bits! Especially the vintage twinge!!

I really don't get into wedding blogs. I've been trying because typically they are full of tons of information, but besides reading Meag's it's hard for me to get motivated. But I did find this great one and I've had to share it with you. Kiss the Groom is a really adorable blog that focuses more on the stories behind the photography and almost every wedding shot they show they try and tell the stories of the first kisses between the couple (or what makes the kisses so great). It's totally refreshing on days when wedding planning makes you wish you hadn't come up with this marriage idea in the first place.
I found this link in my bookmarks (at home my bookmarks are far fewer than at work) and I was amazed at what I found. SHANALOGIC is possibly the most adorable, indie store, ever. I'm completely 100% in love.
They have tons of other goodies, including jewelry and other accessories. Even stuff for the boys in your life. Def worth checking out.
Hubs to be started his own blog. For the most part he babbles about sports, me, music and movies, but he's got a fantastic dry sense of humor which is always welcome. Check him out, or link your hubbys, hubs to bes, and other significant others who might be interested in some guy chatter.
I've got some new projects to post soon, then I'm probably taking a small hiatus from posting scrapbooking LOs as we're moving to our new apartment!! I'll post pictures of that as well if people are interested.
I haven't posted it yet, but the newest issue of James, DECOR FELLOW's online mag, Fellow* is up. Make sure you check it out, as per usual, it's full of fantastic ideas and more. As always, I love James' work.
My other favorite online mag just put up the newest issue well!! Erin over at Design for Mankind has done something spectacular with the newest issue of Mankind Mag, The Feets and Feats Issue. I might have gotten a little choked up at one point. It's truly beautiful, just like we've come to expect from Erin.
I feel like I should have mentioned this last week, but I like to see more of final product before I spring it on you. Ali Edwards is currently working on a week in the life project at her blog (with blog followers tagigng along and doing the project with her). She says it parallels one of the classes she's taught at CKU and similiar events if you've attended one of those before. Personally I'd love to try this project for a few weeks this year, esp with the wedding planning that's getting started. I think I needed to see how things shaped up though before I made a decision. The above link takes you to the entire set of posts thus far.
As a quick update...I'm going out on a limb and joining up with the Art House Co-op Scavenger Project (which is being done with my girly Erin, over at Design for Mankind). I'm a little nervous but excited at the same time to see what kind of scrapbooking success I can muster out of this. Who knows? All I know is that it should be fun.
There are still some spaces left if you are interested in joining in on the fun. Plus you can watch the progress through the flickr group, if you are just interested in cheering on the participators (like me!).
Also, we've got to give some love to one of my favorite designers, James aka Decor Fellow. He's just released his own mag, Fellow* and it's fantastic and completely 100% worth the read. Tons of goodies. I love that he's focusing on design for "the high and the low", and how he honestly believes that finances shouldn't stop you from living fabulously (my kind of guy!).

I feel as if I've abandoned readers, and I apologize. But I'm here to share some goodies with you, hopefully you'll forgive me as a result. And I promise to update more often.
There have been quite a few sucessful finds as of late; not all scrapbook related (ok most aren't). I love this shirt from American Eagle and it makes me re-think avoiding their clothes. Actually most of their early fall line seems to be my style and I'm considering re-visiting the look and trying my best to avoid massive brand marketing.
In other shopping goodies, H&M has become my favorite staple. Not available online yet, but there are more stores going up in the states every few weeks. As excited as I am, I'm bummed to see one of my fave European trends go mainstream. On the upside, the uber-trendy attitude of the store and the flexibility of the clothing keeps the yuppies on the fringe. As always, everything is yummy: patterns, styles, textures and colors. I picked up a great Breakfast at Tiffany's style jacket and sleek suiting dress for possible interviews. They also hooked us up with a copy of the mag (which you can view online here). I haven't had a chance to dig through it but my skim lead me to believe it's full of yummy things to look at too.
If you go/went to a big name school (esp if you have a well known football program) Victoria's Secret Pink line recently released a line featuring licensed logos from 33 of the major universities. If you are feeling some love in my direction go nominate Georiga Tech for the next round of schools. We are low on the number of women in attendance, so it's a long shot, but we'll keep hoping.

I know I make you all nuts and I should run for being her PR person, but Ali Edwards has another FANTASTIC series going on this week on her blog about adding digital elements to your typical scrapbooking LOs. Considering this is something some of you will be interested or at least INSPIRED by, I thought I should share with you.
Not sure if you are an avid reader like me, but Ali Edward's series about photos + words this week is fantastic. Today's post is a personal favorite. I'm always pushing for people to explore the world of journaling. In the future when someone looks at your pages that isn't your significant other standing next you while you grab his(her) arm yelling "OH look what I just did honey!" (there are other people that do this right?), you want them to be able to see the whole picture. A picture is typically worth a thousand words, but how many times do you wish you knew which thousand words they actually are? Wouldn't all of our questions be answered if DaVinci had just made some notes on the back of the Mona Lisa canvas?
Even more so the only way to get better at writing is to write more. Write every day. Eevery single day. I know I do it. Sometimes it's just an email, but I try to expand my writing even in just my emails. I try to write full sentances. (It's ok; sometimes you have to send the "OMG SQUEEE" email because your roomie got asked out on a date or something. That's completely acceptable.) So many people complain about writing blogs, or journaling on layouts because they are so afraid of errors or of what they wrote just sounding silly. Sometimes it's going to sound silly. That's how things go. But the more you do it, the better it gets. Reading more helps with this as well. (In the case of reading, blogs + CNN.com are good, but I really recomend expanding into books.) And for my music lovers. In case you didn't know, Nine Inch Nails is offering their newest album for free download off their website. I've only listened through once and it's pretty good if that's genre you are interested in.
Updates first: I'm now to the seriously considering starting up a forum that crosses the scrapbooking globe if you will. I'd love to see us all together sharing what we have from our different kits, LSS shopping experiences, conventions, online vitories and Hobby Lobby overbuys. Plus with so many of us considering breaks (or at least spending less time) on other boards linked to different kits, it would be shame to see friends go their own way without a home base for us all to come back to.
So right now I'm just working on putting together details with which site i want to run the forum off of. I've narrowed it down to about three different sites. I just need to do more research. Expect things to get launched very soon though. I'll need your support getting things going and getting others involved.

I mentioned in a previous post about the Design for Mankind e-zine about Inspiration. You can see the first issue here and the second here. The newest one was just released this week, so it's brand new. I love this. I love seeing the inspiration that other people have, where it comes from. And Erin, who's in charge of the whole things, always posts things like "email me if you want to be involved in the next issue".
Today I took the plunge and emailed her. I told her I wasn't published, or accomplished, but I was different because I was an engineer and an artist. I thought I had something special to bring to the table. I asked her what it would take to be included. I hit send and then before I freaked out about it, I went back to work.
Minutes later an email popped up from her and she wants me to submit my stuff. With a focus on an inspirational corner of a home (can anyone else say "my brand new scrap space"?) . I freaked out, told her immediately i was interested and now have until the 16th to get my stuff in order. So keep an eye out for me. Holy cow. (I keep telling myself to breathe and not panic, haha).
